Diversified Art Gallery Re-post

Jonathan Doherty, Colleague & Friend 6/2/1983 – 5/5/2022

The breadth of Jonathan’s interests and involvement with people, events, meetings and much, much more is legendary. No wonder he leaves behind a grieving community.  But how he cultivated his natural turn towards joy into a movement unto itself is something else. When you recall his name, see his face before you, an instant flood of joy and kindness descends. His legacy can certainly be measured by the numerous projects and efforts he was involved in (it will take some time!), but to measure Jonathan the man, is to know joy itself.

A Clip of a live recorded “thank you note” to the Arc of Genesee Orleans (2019):

With Heavy Hearts

We have to say goodbye to our friend, colleague, instructor, mover and shaker (literally and metaphorically), Cadence Whittier.

You will be missed by many, many people whose lives you touched through your commitment to people, dance and creativity.

The Best the Season Can Bring – The Teams of the Collaborative of NY!

The Collaborative of NY’s Board of Directors is reaching out to its team members in recognition of the individual and collective heroic efforts made during 2020, a most challenging year and in the spirit of the winter holiday season wishing everyone a HAPPY NEW YEAR!

We want to give a “shout-out” to our Residential Directors who came together in the virtual world during the pandemic with the support of the Collaborative, but without an executive sponsor.  The team shared-out concerns and resolved issues. The emergent pandemic required quick turn around times in an often chaotic public environment. Residential directors pulled together turning to their trusted colleagues in the Collaborative.  Thank you.

Members of the Collaborative Finance Team,

Your services individually and as part of the collective body of CFO’s within the Collaborative shape the understanding of, and spearhead the solutions for, an ever-evolving, turbulent even, fiscal environment.  You are an integral part of why the Collaborative makes a difference for its members.  Thank you.

May Peace and Joy be Yours this Holiday Season and Throughout 2021,
Barbara Wale, Martin Miskell and Denise Jones
Members of the Collaborative HRS Team,
Perhaps this year of any other Collaborative year, the HRS Team has proven a value of inestimable worth, coming together weekly for much of 2020 during the tremendous challenges of the CoVid-19 pandemic and the unrest of heightened racial tensions that epitomized the Collaborative ethos, to share challenges, collaboratively problem solve and support each other while doing so.  Thank you.

May the Joy of the Season by Yours Now and Throughout 2021!
Bernie Burns and Donna Saskowski
Members of the Collaborative MIS Team,
We wanted to thank you for the work you’ve done this past year. We know first hand how difficult it is to do your jobs with limited staff, keeping all of our information secure and keep each Chapter running smoothly. This year like no other year in history has shown us how important you are and what you do for our collective communities.  Who would have thought at the beginning of 2020, you would need to pivot and make it possible for many of your staff to work remotely? Who would have known you would need to determine how to do this quickly, efficiently and with as much security as possible? Because of what you do, we had the capability to work throughout the crisis. And because of what you’ve done, we will be able to safely and effectively work in 2021 providing mission to all those we serve. Thank you for your dedication to the task at hand!

We Wish you Peace and Joy Throughout 2021,
Allen Connely and Sean Eagen

Members of the Collaborative Quality Team,
During this past year, compliance has never been more challenging due to the CoVid-19 pandemic. Generally, the Quality Team has a comprehensive approach to its work, but this year, due to the immediacy of the conditions, networking and creative problem solving solidified the team’s cohesiveness and reliance on each other.  Thank you for all you have done.

Happy Holidays and to Peace in the New Year!
David Calhoun
Members of the Collaborative Self Advocates Team,
Before the pandemic hit, the Self-Advocates Team paved the way to online meetings and events. It did not let distance interfere with coming together and this made a marked difference during this challenging year.  The Collaborative continues to benefit from the innovations of the team and its members. Thank you!

May the Peace and Joy of the holidays be Yours Now and Throughout 2021.
Donna Saskowski
Members of the Collaborative Training Team,
During this pandemic season, the Training Team and its members have come up with excellent alternatives to in-person training in record time.  Several years ago the team led the way for the Collaborative to become early adopters of the online training platform and so was ready for the virtual challenge that the CoVid-19 pandemic forced.  Not least among a long list of team accomplishments is your networking and continued practice of highly successful collaboration. The Training team puts the “collaboration” in the “Collaborative of NY!” The team is an inspiration to the entire Collaborative. Thank you.

We Wish You the Best of the Season and a Bright New Year!
Ann Scheetz, Ellen Gutmaker and Mike Damiano
Members of the Collaborative Transportation Team,
This has been a most challenging year for transportation amid the CoVid-19 pandemic. Steadfastness and diligence mark the efforts of the transportation departments throughout the 13 member agencies of the Collaborative. The Collaborative is nothing if it doesn’t network and share best practices.  The Transportation Team continues to inspire in this way, even when challenged by the pandemic.  Thank you.

Best of the Holiday’s to You and Peace and Joy in 2021!
Martin Miskell

CCNY Training a Success!

Eighteen associates from 12 of the Collaborative of NY’s member agencies completed the CQI Certificate program with CCNY (Community Connections of NY, Inc.). The Continuous Quality Improvement program spanned 8 weeks this past fall 2020 with 4 full day sessions in-person (distanced) intervened with hours of “homework” on real-work projects. Participants walked away with a certificate and a quality improvement project designed for their agency, and in some cases were already underway.  It is hard to emphasize the value that was added by applying QI principles and theory directly to the situation at hand – theory enhanced by real-time situations and situations transformed by theory-in-practice. All 13 member agencies were slated to participate but on the start day of the training, one agency’s participants were observing a precautionary quarantine.

Congratulations to all the participants and a big shot out of “Thanks” to Christa Foschio-Bebak of CCNY!

CCNY CQI Training Re-Scheduling

The Collaborative of NY Board of Directors voted unanimously to put Continuous Quality Improvement training for Collab members back on the schedule. Logistics are being worked out considering the new distancing regulations. Stay tuned for more updates!
